Remote Emergency Care; Outdoor First Aid Level 2 (16hr)
This Remote Emergency Care first aid, outdoor first aid training is ideally suited to those who work or play in the outdoors and may have to deal with first aid incidents when at a distance from emergency services.
- Accident Procedures: Essential life saving systems for assessing and treating unconscious casualties.
- Resuscitation and choking: Applying the latest protocols to deal with non-breathing casualties.
- Bleeding: We will look at dealing with major bleeds.
- Major Injuries: head, chest, limbs and spine.
- Insulate and Shelter: managing your casualty until help arrives.
This outdoor first aid training is a two day course conforming to the requirements of the MLTUK, BCU, RYA and other outdoor governing bodies. We focus on dealing with incidents far from medical help with the minimal equipment you would carry while participating in or leading outdoor activities. Again the emphasis is on practical skills with plenty of hands-on practice including lots of outdoor scenarios.
The course will provide vital first aid essentials such as CPR and Accident Procedures and consider the practicalities of these protocols in the outdoors. It is a 16 hour outdoor REC course and therefore meets the requirements of NGB qualifications such as ML and SPA.
Outdoor first aid training covers the core skills of first aid applied in the outdoors whilst also looking at major injuries such as broken bones, head and spinal injuries and hypo and hyperthermia. As with all our courses we will use our experience of working in remote environments to look at the practicalities of applying these core skills in the outdoors.
If you'd like to discuss which course is best for you then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are also happy to set up bespoke courses for organisations and groups.
